In the early 1900s, a new duet emerged. Jam & Spoon is a creative union, originally from the German city of Frankfurt am Main. This team consisted of Rolf Ellmer and Markus Löffel.

Until that time they worked solo. Fans knew these guys under the pseudonyms Tokyo Ghetto Pussy, Storm and Big Room. It is important that the team worked in the musical direction of trance.

Jam El Mar put the creation of original remixes at the basis of his work. During his solo career, he was able to co-produce Dance 2 Trance.

The beginning of the creative union Jam and Spoon

In their debut year, they released the album Breaks Unit 1. But at the same time, the team continued to create remixes. They have recorded tracks for artists such as Moby, the Frankie Goes to Hollywood band, the Deep Forest duo, and more.

Fame and fortune Jam & Spoon

The project Tripomatic Fairytales 2001 gave the greatest success. This record was released in 1993. This creation entered the top 100 of the leading charts in Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Switzerland. In some charts, the compositions were in the lead for several weeks.

In the same year they released the second part of their last disc. But he was no longer as successful as the previous one. Among the famous songs that were popular on dance floors were: Stella, Find Me, Right in the Night, Be Angeled, etc. 

After a successful project, the duo recorded two brilliant compositions: Find Me and Angel. This time they collaborated with vocalist Plavka Lonic. The last track hit the top 100 charts in Germany, Switzerland, England and Holland. The maximum track was able to take the 26th position.

The band released the Kaleidoscope CD in 1997. He was able to gain popularity in Germany and Switzerland. This project was the last before a long lull. From 1997 to 2004 the guys worked with other artists of the world.

Jam and Spoon released the third version of their famous project in 2004. But he could not conquer the top of the charts. The only achievement of this record can be considered getting into the top 100 of the German hit parade. The latest project was Remixes & Club Classics.

Some achievements of the duet Jam & Spoon

Since 2000, the guys continued to create music in their direction. First, they created a remix of The Chase (1979), which was created by the Italian composer, performer Giorgio Morodera. This composition topped the Hot Dance Club Songs charts, conquering the top of the American charts.

The band collaborated with R. Garvey (from Reamonn) and recorded the track Be Angeled (2001). It was with this artist that the work Set Me Free (Empty Rooms) was created. He became part of the last disc of the duo. 

In the same year, with the participation of Rea, the single Be Angeled was created. He was able to enter the top 100 of six charts in the world. The highest, 4th position, he took in America. The last joint single was Butterfly Sign, released in 2004. He was able to take 67th position in the German charts.

The Tragic Events of Jam & Spoon

This team could exist for quite a long time. But, alas, fate had its own way. Markus Löffel died on January 2006, 9. He passed away in his own apartment in Frankfurt am Main. The artist was only 39 years old. His heart failed.

His partner continued the work, which was not very successful. Gradually, it was decided to release a separate album, which was dedicated to Markus.

In 2006 they released Remixes & Club Classics. Rolf Elmer continued to collaborate with famous musicians. In particular, he became the composer for some Enigma compositions. He, along with his partner, is considered the founder of trance.

Thus, this well-known German band was able to please its fans for a short time. For 15 years they were able to release only 5 albums.

At the same time, only one track managed to take the 1st position in the charts of America. In other countries of the world, the duet was very popular on dance floors.

Unfortunately, death put an end to the work of the team. Rolf could not move away from this blow. Gradually Markus' partner joined other musicians.
