The punk rock band "Korol i Shut" was created in the early 1990s. Mikhail Gorshenyov, Alexander Shchigolev and Alexander Balunov literally "breathed" punk rock.
They have long dreamed of creating a musical group. True, the initially well-known Russian group "Korol and Shut" was called "Office".
Mikhail Gorshenyov is the leader of a rock band. It was he who inspired the guys to declare their work. He stood out from the rest of the musicians - a terrible make-up, themed clothes and an original manner of performing compositions.
The beginning of the musical career of the rock band "Korol i Shut"
In 1988, school friends Mikhail Gorshenyov, Alexander Shchigolev and Alexander Balunov decided to create a musical group. The guys did not understand where to start and how to declare themselves. They had only one desire - to make music professionally.
An educated musical group began to play punk rock. The melodies and words of the compositions fully corresponded to this musical genre. Then the group did not have its own audience and performed compositions for a close circle of acquaintances and friends.
The picture changed a little after Mikhail Gorshenyov met Andrei Knyazev, who studied at the restoration school. Andrey Knyazev is a real "pearl" of modern rock. He wrote original texts. He took inspiration from various genres - folklore, mythology, fantasy.
Andrei really liked the music of the Kontora group. And Mikhail was impressed by the texts that came out from under the pen of Knyazev. From that moment on, the guys began to work closely together. This acquaintance greatly changed the work of the Kontora group, and these changes were for the better.
In 1990, members of the Kontora group decided to rename the group to Korol i Shut. The number of "fans" and fans of the work of the musical group subsequently began to call the group "KiSh". In the early 1990s, the musicians began recording their first tracks in a professional recording studio. Then they were first invited to one of the radio stations, where they participated live.
In 1994, the musicians released their first album, Be at Home, Traveler. The debut album was released exclusively on cassette. Despite this, the collection sold a significant circulation. "Make yourself at home, traveler" was not included in the rock band's discography.
Despite the first popularity and recognition, the King and the Jester group did not perform large-scale concerts. The musical group performed at local clubs. In 1996, a short program was filmed about the rock group, which was broadcast several times on a local TV channel.
Later, several video clips came out of the shooting: “The Fool and the Lightning”, “Sudden Head”, “Gardener”, “Shadows Wander”. The main feature of video clips is a small budget. Despite this formality, the clips have enough views.
Music of the group "Kish"
In the musical work of the "Korol i Shut" band there is a combination of several musical genres - folk rock and art punk, hardcore and hard rock.
The songs of the group "Korol i Shut" are "mini-stories", performed in combination with beautiful music.
The musical group presented the first official collection in 1996. The album received the daring name "Stone on the head." Later, music critics recognized the first official album as "programmatic". It contained bright and juicy musical compositions that literally forced the audience to go into the “separation”.
In 1997, the musicians released their second collection, which received the "modest" title "The King and the Jester". The second official collection included "cassette" songs from the unofficial album "Be at home, traveler".
A year later, the group released the third collection "Acoustic Album". Music critics commented that the tracks sounded more "softer". The ballad "I'll jump from a cliff" took the 1st position on the radio station "Nashe Radio".
The KiSh group has gained all-Russian popularity. The leaders of the musical group began to be invited to various events and concerts.
The first clip of the group
In 1998, the team released the first "high-quality" video clip "The men ate meat." Director Boris Dedenov helped the guys to create the "correct" plot. The clip didn't want to leave the local video charts for a long time. Later, the clip got into the "Chart Dozen".
In 1999, the musicians played a solo album for the first time. Then they released the next album, "The Men Ate Meat", which the public received warmly. This inspired the guys to create the next album "Heroes and Villains". The most popular composition of the album was the track "The Drevlyans remember with bitterness."
A year later, the group "Korol i Shut" released a collection of the best songs. The collection includes the band's favorite tracks, which are recorded in a new and original sound.
In 2001, the next album "It's a pity there is no gun" was released. Later this disc was recognized as the most popular album of the group "Korol i Shut". Musical compositions are filled with anarchy, evil and disorder. The same motives can be heard in the album "It's a pity there is no gun", which the guys presented to fans in 2002.
A little later, the team presented the video clip "The Cursed Old House", which took the top of the "Chart Dozen". After the presentation of the video, the group was recognized as the best rock group in Russia. The musicians were awarded the PoboRoll and Ovation awards.
Until 2005, the King and the Jester group was silent. Fans of the rock band began to get very excited as Knyaz and Pot released solo albums. There were rumors that the band was ceasing its musical activities.
In 2006, the KiSh group released their next album, Nightmare Seller. The tracks "Puppets" and "Rum" for a long time held a leading position in the local charts. Between 2008 and 2010 the guys released two more albums - "Shadow of the Clown" and "Demon Theater".
Despite the fact that the musicians annually presented new albums, this did not prevent them from touring, taking part in various rock projects. In 2011-2012 two albums based on the horror zong-opera TODD were released - “Act 1. Blood Festival” and “Act 2. On the Edge”.
Group "King and Shut" now
In 2013, Mikhali Gorshenyov (vocalist, leader of the group) was found dead in his apartment. A little later, the musical group announced the creation of a new project, the Northern Fleet.
The memory of the Pot is honored to this day. This is evidenced by numerous fan pages on the social networks Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, Facebook and Instagram. Andrey Knyaz is currently "promoting" the young team of KnyaZz.
In the summer of 2018, members of the Northern Fleet band organized a concert in memory of the legendary Pot. To this day, rock fans are delighted with the tracks of the Korol i Shut group.
