The artist's date of birth is August 20, 1974. He was born on the territory of Chelyabinsk (Russia). Maxim did not live long in this city. Almost immediately after his birth, he, together with his mother, moved to Novosibirsk. The fact is that his father worked in this city. When the music teacher moved to the capital of Russia, the young man followed her. In Moscow, he entered the Central Music School, but after a couple of years he returned to his hometown. Then he studied with Zakhar Bron. Around the same period of time, Maxim took a prestigious prize at one of the music competitions.

At the end of the 80s, Vengerov again followed the example of his teacher. Zakhar left the USSR, and Maxim left Novosibirsk with him. Abroad, he earned his living by teaching the violin.

A year later, he won the violin competition and finally received Israeli citizenship.
