The legendary Sergey Zakharov sang the songs that the listeners loved, which at present would be ranked among the real hits of the modern stage. Once upon a time, everyone sang along with “Moscow Windows”, “Three White Horses” and other compositions, repeating in one voice that no one performed them better than Zakharov. After all, he had an incredible baritone voice and was elegant on stage thanks to his memorable tailcoats.
Sergei Zakharov: Childhood and youth
Sergey was born on May 1, 1950 in the city of Nikolaev in a military family. He did not live there for long, as soon an order came to transfer his father to Baikonur. It was in Kazakhstan that the childhood of the future performer passed.
The guy had an interest in music from his grandfather. After all, he was a trumpeter for 30 years and worked at the Odessa Opera. At the same time, Sergey began to get involved in music from an early age. In an interview, he said that, as a five-year-old boy, he heard Georg Ots and was shocked by his incredible voice, with which he performed Mister X's aria in the circus princess operetta.
Then Zakharov did not yet know that this composition, after the expiration of time, would enter his repertoire and become one of the most beloved among the public.
After leaving school, Sergei did not go to study at a music school, but became a student at the Radio Engineering Institute. However, the age of majority came, and Zakharov went to the army, where he again studied music and became the main leader of his company.
The guy's talent was immediately noticed, which led to early demobilization, after which he went to Moscow and entered Gnesinka, where he studied for two years. Then Zakharov dropped out of school and began to earn money at the Arbat restaurant.
This decision became a fateful one for him. After all, it was in this institution that Sergei met the legendary Leonid Utyosov.
He offered the guy the role of a soloist in his orchestra. It was a great chance to gain experience, and the young singer gladly accepted the maestro's proposals. For 6 months, Zakharov traveled around the country, but he did not receive the “lessons” promised by Leonid Osipovich, since he did not improve his talent. Therefore, Sergei, without thinking twice, decided to leave the orchestra.
Musical career
The start of his musical career, according to the singer, is dated 1973. After all, then he joined the Leningrad music hall, which is the best in the USSR. In addition, Zakharov entered the Rimsky-Korsakov School.
From that moment on, he understood what love and recognition of the audience is. Thousands of people came to the concerts, whom Sergey conquered not only with his musical talent, but also with his appearance with incredible charm.
In 1974, Zakharov applied to participate in the Golden Orpheus competition and easily won this competition. Then he also won the Sopot competition. And the performer gained maximum audience love after the Artloto program with his participation appeared on television screens.
From that moment on, his songs began to be put on the radio. Another of the firms even decided to record albums with his compositions. Not only the public spoke with admiration about Zakharov, but also Russian colleagues, as well as a number of world stars.
Singer's jail time
But not without exceptions. In 1977, Sergei was forced to take a creative break - imprisonment. He went to jail for a year. The reason for this was a mass brawl with one of the employees of the music hall. The singer preferred not to name the reasons and only said that the secretary of the CPSU Grigory Romanov, who was in love with Lyudmila Senchina, was interested in the brawl. But it was with her that Zakharov performed in the 1970s, and they became good friends.
It seemed that the prison term would lead to the end of the singer's career, but everything turned out differently. Zakharov was invited to the Odessa Philharmonic. Then I went to the music hall. After that he returned to television again, and also traveled to foreign countries on tour.
From the 1980s, he began a solo career. His popularity has not decreased, but on the contrary, has increased even more. New songs began to appear in his repertoire. But he did not forget about the art of opera, performing to the compositions of Glinka, Tchaikovsky and others.
In 2016, it became known about the singer's illness, but relatives assured that these were just inventions of journalists. In addition, this year Zakharov gave another concert in Moscow, and then went on a tour of Russia.
Sergei Zakharov and his personal life
Zakharov married very early - at the age of 16. Weddings at that age were legal in Kazakhstan. The couple had a daughter, who was named Natasha. She later gave birth to a grandson and a granddaughter.
In the 1990s, the singer's family decided to move out of town. They bought a private house there near the reservoir. Zakharov spent a lot of time decorating his home, and did it to Pavarotti's records, as he himself admitted.
Death of an artist
Sergey Zakharov died on February 14, 2019 in one of the capital's clinics, when he was 69 years old. According to doctors, the cause of the early death of the famous singer was acute heart failure. The singer was buried at the cemetery in Zelenogorsk.
