The history of Thame Impala and its creation
The group was formed back in 1999. Thirteen-year-old teenager Kevin Parker and his friend Dominic Simper conducted musical experiments together.
The boys have already decided what they want to do in life. Write music like no other. Get carried away with experiments and win an army of "fans". After several years of music sessions, the guys decided to record their own tracks.
Parker performed as vocalist and guitarist. Parker was born in Sydney, but spent most of his life in Australia. His mother moved to Australia from Africa and his father was born in Zimbabwe.
It was his father who instilled in the future musician a love for music and the ability to subtly appreciate musical compositions. Already at the age of 11, the boy played the drums and recorded his own compositions.
The original band was called The Dee Dee Dums, but in 2007 it took on a more complete form and changed its name to Tame Impala.
Over time, Parker has developed as a musician, and his tastes have also undergone some transformation. The soul of the young musician lay in psychedelic rock, which could not but be reflected in his own work.
The sound of the new compositions has changed - this became the basis for further features of the Tame Impala sound.
The composition of the group has also changed. The two guitarists were replaced by a guitarist, a bass player and a drummer. Davenport, who left the group, decided to leave his musical career and took up the development of acting.
Dominik Simper left the band for a while, focusing on other bands, but in 2007 he returned to Tame Impala and helped her in live performances.
We must not forget about Jay Watson, a multi-instrumentalist who played a significant role in the development of the group.
Features of the sound of the Tame Impala band
The group decided to combine the retro sound with the features of the modern sound of the compositions. Long years of experimentation in different directions, development of one's own taste and replenishment of the "aesthetic baggage" helped to hone the band's sound as something unique, not similar to modern compositions.
The band decided to put their tracks on the My Space network. Interestingly, only a few tracks were published, but even they managed to arouse interest from Modular Records, who contacted the musicians with a proposal for further cooperation.
The gang decided that this was their chance to "break into the people" and sent the studio two dozen songs recorded back in 2003.
The author reports that the tracks sent were not recorded with the expectation of a general public - these are songs intended for a circle of relatives and close friends.
Such compositions have deep emotional experiences of the author, his soul and thoughts about the universe. Therefore, sending such personal songs to a major label was a bold decision.
After this step, the group received several more proposals for cooperation with various labels, but Parker chose the very first company. Three of the most successful tracks were selected from the submitted songs, which helped to earn many prizes and awards in the future.
At this time, the team became a studio, but they also gave live performances as a solo, and together with other musical groups.
Once, during a performance, the manager of a team from MGM America approached the group and offered the band a tour with the specified team. This was followed by tours throughout the country under the names Black Keys and You Am I.
The guys performed at such important festivals as the Music Festival and Falls Festival, and then organized a tour to support the album. At the same time, the new single Sundown Syndrome was released.
Further successes of the group
In 2010, the album Innerspeaker was released. Interestingly, it was recorded almost by one Kevin, while the rest of the members made a little effort.
Listeners highly appreciated the unusual sound of the new compositions, reminiscent of the music of the 1960s. Over time, the record won the 4th position in the Australian charts.
Lonerism - the record of 2012, received the title of the best record of the year. In 2013, the album was nominated for Best Alternative Album at the Grammy Awards.
The album sold 210 copies in the US alone. Parker indicated in an interview that most of the lyrics and compositions were created by him.
The band's music videos draw attention to themselves by their unusual presentation: they are often psychedelic pictures that replace each other, or characteristically processed recordings from concerts.
In 2019, the band is still a frequent visitor to many music festivals.
Tame Impala is a band founded on the love for music of people who chose their direction in life at an early age. They moved forward in their musical careers without looking back or hesitating.

In 2020, the presentation of the fourth studio album took place. We are talking about the album The Slow Rush. The musicians presented the LP on Valentine's Day, on February 14th.
The collection contains 12 songs. In the summer of 2020, the LP was included in the list of the best albums of the year at that time by Stereogum.
