The history of the creation and composition of the team The Kooks

At the origins of The Kooks are:

  • Paul Garred;
  • Luke Pritchard;
  • Hugh Harris.

The trio have been seriously interested in music since their teenage years. When the guys had a desire to create their own project, they all studied at the London School of Performing Arts and Technology. After successful certification, the guys became BIMM students.

At first, the guys were busy with their studies. In the early 2000s, the guys bought the albums of The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Police and David Bowie and began to observe their style.

They were impressed by the game of talented rockers. In order to fully “staff” the group, the guys invited bass player Max Rafferty to join the group. After the bassist joined the band, the guys started writing debut compositions and organizing concerts.

The new group was ignored for a long time. Yet the youth of that time had a lot of idols. The Kooks attracted attention almost immediately after the presentation of their debut EP. The collection includes a cover version of the track by The Strokes Reptilia.

The Kooks were in the spotlight. The musicians were offered cooperation by several recording studios at once. Soon the guys chose the best option for themselves and signed a contract with the label. After that, the band members began recording their debut album.

Until 2008, the composition did not change. But soon the first changes took place in The Kooks. Rafferty and Garred's seats were taken by Pete Denton and Alexis Nunez. Fans did not long grieve about the departed idols. After all, it was these newcomers who brought the sound of the tracks to an ideal state. With the arrival of Pete Denton and Alexis Nunez, the long-awaited popularity fell upon The Kooks.

The creative path of The Kooks

In the mid-2000s, the band traveled all over the continent with their concerts. In addition, the musicians managed to replenish the repertoire with new compositions.

When the guys came to the recording studio with their own material, they seriously puzzled the producer and sound engineer. They had a dozen author's tracks in their piggy bank, but they were all written in different musical genres.

The creative process stopped a little because of the mix of tracks. But soon The Kooks opened their discography with their debut album. We are talking about the LP Inside In / Inside Out. The record was headed by 14 tracks.

The debut album was warmly received not only by fans, but also by music critics. This inspired the band to start recording their second studio album. The new record was called Konk. As a result, the album took 41st position on the prestigious Billboard chart. From a commercial point of view, the collection was more successful than the previous one.

The tracks of Mr. Maker, Always Where I Need to Be, See the Sun and Shine On. The compositions were not only "overwritten" to holes by ordinary listeners. They were broadcast on television, used in serials and commercials.

"Fans" were not mistaken in their predictions. Soon the group's discography was replenished with the Listen album. After the presentation of the record, the musicians went on a big tour.

After the tour and participation in a number of music festivals, the musicians of The Kooks replenished their musical treasury with the tracks No Pressure and All The Time.

The guys were very productive. Already in 2018, they presented the fifth longplay to fans. We are talking about the album Let's Go Sunshine. The "golden hits" of the collection were the tracks Fractured and Dazed, Chicken Bone, Tesco Disco and Believe.

2018 was a year not only of good news, but also of significant losses. Fans were shocked by the news that The Kooks bassist Peter Denton had decided to leave the project. The musician did not comment on the true reasons for leaving.
