Theodor Bastard is a popular St. Petersburg band that was founded at the end of the 90s of the last century. Initially, it was a solo project of Fyodor Bastard (Alexander Starostin), but over time, the brainchild of the artist began to “grow” and “take root”. Today, Theodor Bastard is a complete band.
The team's musical compositions sound very "delicious". And all due to the fact that the guys use an unrealistic number of instruments from different countries of the world. The list of classical instruments opens: guitar, cello, harfois. Responsible for electronic sound: synthesizers, samplers, theremin. The compositions of the team also include unique instruments, such as nikelharpa, jouhikko, darbuki, congas, djembe, daf and many others.
The history of the creation and composition of the group Theodor Bastard
As noted above, the history of the team began with a solo project by Alexander Starostin, who at that time was known to fans under the creative pseudonym Fedor Bastard. In his early work, the artist experimented with many musical genres.
At the end of the 90s, talented musicians such as Monty, Maxim Kostyunin, Kusas and Yana Veva joined Alexander's project. After expanding the composition, the artists gave their offspring the name under which they perform to this day.
At the beginning of the "zero" the team became richer by one more member. Anton Urazov joined the group. There were also some minor losses. So, Max Kostyunin left the team. He was looking for a replacement for 6 years. Soon the place of Maxim was taken by Alexey Kalinovsky.
After the guys realized that they lacked drums, they went in search of a new musician. So, Andrey Dmitriev joined the team. The latter was a member of the group for a very short time. Sergei Smirnov took his place.
After some time, Slavik Salikov and Katya Dolmatova joined the team. Starting from this period of time, the composition has not changed (information for 2021).
The creative path of Theodor Bastard
The first performances of the team were as original and spectacular as possible. The musicians created real noise performances at concert venues. Often the performers went on stage wearing helmets or gas masks. Then, everyone who watched this action on stage said that the group's performance plunged them into hypnosis. A couple of years after the founding of the band, the guys started working with the Invisible Records label.
The team at an early stage of creativity was in search of the original sound. Then the artists managed to develop those very oriental motifs and the gothic genre - for which millions of fans fell in love with them.
In 2002, the premiere of a live record took place. She received the name BossaNova_Trip. By the way, the tracks included in the live album differed from the material that the artists released earlier.
Some time later, the musicians pleased the fans with the information that they were working on their debut LP. In 2003, the premiere of the disc "Emptiness" took place.
In 2005 the guys went on a big tour. By the way, this tour became the "reason" for the release of the disc "Vanity". Around the same period of time, Yana Veva also decided to pursue a solo career. She records the composition Nahash, attracting the attention of foreign music lovers as well.
Then the guys worked on the disc "Darkness". The musicians mixed it at a recording studio in Venezuela. However, for a number of reasons, the album was never released.
But in 2008, fans enjoyed the songs from the LP "White: Catching Evil Beasts". Fans were ready to sing odes to idols, but the artists themselves were not satisfied with the work done.

They are re-releasing the album. In 2009, the premiere of the collection "White: Premonitions and Dreams" took place. "Fans" noted that the tracks included in the updated longplay are fundamentally different in sound and presentation from what they heard on the disc "White: Catching Evil Beasts".
In 2011, the artists delighted their audience with information about the preparations for the release of the Oikoumene record. It also became known that when recording the album, the guys used musical instruments from around the world. In addition, the musicians began to create remixes with the participation of European bands.
2015 did not remain without musical novelties either. This year, the presentation of the disc “Vetvi” took place. The musicians spent several years creating the collection, it should be recognized that the work turned out to be really worthy.
A few years later, the guys presented a soundtrack album for the game "Mor" called Utopia. The album turned out to be “impregnated” with a mystical mood. Longplay was warmly welcomed by fans of Theodor Bastard.
Theodor Bastard: our days
Despite the “wild” pandemic of the coronavirus infection, the guys worked fruitfully. True, some of the planned concerts had to be cancelled.
The musicians spent their free time as useful as possible, and already in 2020 they presented the album "Wolf Berry". The artists admitted that they spent 5 years on this record. The guys brought the state of the LP to the ideal level. The track Volchok included in the collection sounds in the television series "Zuleikha opens her eyes."
On November 18, 2021, the guys planned another concert in the ZIL cultural center in the capital. If the restrictions related to the coronavirus infection pandemic are not implemented in the plans, the performance of the artists will take place.
