Yadviga Poplavskaya is the prima donna of the Belarusian stage. A talented singer, composer, producer and arranger, she has the title of "People's Artist of Belarus" for a reason.
Childhood of Jadwiga Poplavskaya
The future singer was born on May 1, 1949 (April 25, according to her). Since childhood, the future star has been surrounded by music and creativity. Her father, Konstantin, was a choirmaster and wanted to introduce children to music from childhood. Stephanie's mother supported her husband in this matter. In addition to Jadwiga, the family had two more children - older sister Christina and younger brother Cheslav.
Since the father had plans to create a family trio, the children studied music a lot. Kristina played the piano, Czeslaw played the cello, and Jadwiga played the violin. The singer tried very hard, but it did not work out with the violin. Impromptu concerts were often held at home, where children performed in front of their parents and numerous guests.
As a result, the family musical group was not destined to appear, but all three connected their lives with music. Yadviga became a famous singer, Kristina became a famous pianist. And Cheslav performed as part of the Pesnyary musical group.
Yadviga was seriously fond of music and singing. After a day at school, she came home and practiced vocals for a long time. After leaving school, Poplavskaya entered the conservatory, from which she graduated in 1972 in piano. Later I also completed the composition class.
Musical career
From the very beginning, Jadwiga Poplavskaya wanted to create a musical group that would be no less popular than the Pesnyary group. Her dream came true. In 1971, she became one of the founders of the Verasy vocal and instrumental ensemble. Poplavskaya became a soloist and the ideological inspirer of the band.
At first, the ensemble consisted only of girls, but in 1973 there were changes. One of the participants got married, but her husband was categorically against her profession. So I had to urgently look for a replacement. At the same time, they decided to make a difference and they accepted a guy, Alexander Tikhanovich, into the team. They made no mistake, and the group continued to increase in popularity.
Poplavskaya was part of the VIA "Verasy" until 1986, until a scandal occurred. There are many versions of what was the reason, but the fact remains that there was an incident with drugs. Marijuana was planted in the stage costume of Tikhanovich (at that time already her husband).
By a lucky chance, that day he put on another one, but someone nevertheless "told". Nevertheless, a criminal case was opened. After lengthy proceedings, they proved that Tikhanovich was not to blame. Then the couple created their own duet "Lucky case". They quickly became popular. And soon the duet turned into a group. The musicians toured a lot, performed not only in Belarus, but also abroad. In 1988, Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich created the Song Theater, which produced many Belarusian musicians.

Some time after the death of Alexander Tikhanovich, Yadviga Poplavskaya continued her concert activity. Of course, there were fewer performances, but from time to time the singer delighted fans with her voice. For the first time she performed at a concert in memory of her husband, then - at the "Slavianski Bazaar", where she was a member of the jury.
In 2018, the singer was hit by a car when she was crossing the road at an overpass. Poplavskaya received a broken leg and was hospitalized, but in general everything worked out. Soon another tragic event occurred - her mother died. Despite her venerable age, the singer endured the departure of her mother very hard. According to her, her mother was very supportive of the singer after the death of her husband.
Yadviga Poplavskaya continues to perform today. She tries to sit at home less, lead an active lifestyle and not lose heart.
Personal life of Jadwiga Poplavskaya
With her future husband, Alexander Tikhanovich, the singer met while studying at the conservatory. Jadwiga Poplavskaya immediately liked the musician, but their paths diverged for several years. The next meeting took place when Tikhanovich came to the Verasy group. They say that he came only for the sake of Poplavskaya.
Moreover, the musician at that time had a better offer, which he refused. Alexander Tikhanovich sought the attention of Poplavskaya for three years. And finally, in 1975, they got married. Five years later, the only daughter Anastasia was born. Parents were actively engaged in a musical career. They were constantly on the road for concerts and tours. Therefore, the girl spent almost all her childhood with her grandmothers.
In the future, she also connected her life with the stage. Anastasia still often performs with her mother. In 2003, she married a family friend. The couple lived together for seven years, their son Ivan was born, then the marriage broke up.
Jadwiga Poplavskaya and Alexander Tikhanovich are considered a model of family relations. Despite the fact that the husband was very jealous of Poplavskaya, they lived together until the death of the musician. Alexander Tikhanovich died on January 28, 2017 after a long lung disease. He was diagnosed seven years before his death and kept secret from the public.
However, the news came as a surprise to the singer. She was on tour abroad when her husband's death was announced. They had to be urgently suspended and fly home. The death of the musician caused another wave of increased attention to Jadwiga Poplavskaya.
A little later, she talked about why she went to perform, and did not stay with her husband in the hospital. According to the singer, it was a forced measure. Previous tours were unsuccessful, because at first they were deceived, and then the artists were still at a loss. We needed money for treatment, so Poplavskaya decided to give solo concerts.
Yadviga Poplavskaya: Conflict in the musical field
A few years ago there was a scandal that did not subside. In 2017, it became known that the composer Eduard Hanok and Poplavskaya had a falling out. Moreover, he announced in the press that he was going to sue her. The reason was the violation of Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich's copyrights. The fact is that Hanok wrote music for several compositions from the repertoire of the Verasy group.
The rights to them belong to the composer, but the spouses performed songs even after leaving the group. Among the songs were: “I live with my grandmother”, “Robin”. According to the author, he did not allow the compositions to be performed and demanded a ban. The star couple's daughter responded by saying that Hanok agreed to give permission to her parents. However, more than $20 had to be paid for this. The family did not have this money, because everything went to the treatment of his father.
The situation worsened even more after the death of Tikhanovich. Hanok was indignant that when they wrote about the death of a musician, they did not remember the composer as the author of his songs. Not surprisingly, the mention of the conflict in the context of the singer's death outraged not only his family, but also the public.
A little later, the composer announced that he would not sue, but would demand a ban on the performance of his songs. As a result, he received a ban. But two months later he changed his mind and again shared it with the press. Hanok decided to defend his rights in court, although the ban had not been violated during this time.
