Yalla: Band Biography

The vocal and instrumental group "Yalla" was formed in the Soviet Union. The band's popularity peaked in the 70s and 80s. Initially, VIA was formed as an amateur art group, but gradually acquired the status of an ensemble. At the origins of the group is the talented Farrukh Zakirov. It was he who wrote the popular, and perhaps the most famous composition of the repertoire of the Uchkuduk collective.

The creativity of the vocal and instrumental group is a "juicy" assortment, which is based on the best creative heritage of ethnic and Central Asian cultures. But, most importantly, the musicians managed to spice up folk art with the introduction of modern musical trends. At that time, the soloists of "Yalla" were the idols of millions of Soviet music lovers.

The history of the creation and composition of the Yalla group

The Soviet team was formed against the backdrop of increased public interest in foreign pop music. In the 60s it was fashionable to create VIA. But, interestingly, factories, schools and universities often served as venues for creating ensembles. Such collectives were created solely in order to raise the level of culture of the Soviet population. The best groups were determined with the help of competitions and amateur art shows.

German Rozhkov and Yevgeny Shiryaev decided to take part in one of the music competitions, which was held in Tashkent in the 70s. The duet announced the recruitment of musicians for the new band. Soon the group was replenished by a number of talented musicians.

VIA was named TTHI. The new group included:

  • Sergey Avanesov;
  • Bakhodyr Juraev;
  • Shahboz Nizamutdinov;
  • Dmitry Tsirin;
  • Ali-Askar Fatkhullin.

At the presented music competition, the group performed the song "Black and Red". The most interesting thing is that at that time the musicians had only 2 songs in their repertoire. The choice was not great, but despite this, they managed to leave with a victory in their hands. In addition, the guys had a unique chance. They went to the prestigious competition "Hello, we are looking for talents!".

During this period of time, the team was replenished with new members. So, Ravshan and Farrukh Zakirov joined the squad. At the same time, the VIA, under the leadership of the talented Evgeny Shiryaev, received the name "Yalla". From now on, the composition will change even more often. Some will come, others will leave, but the main thing is that regardless of who was in the Yalla group, the group developed and reached considerable heights.

"Yalla" started his career as a big team. To date, the group consists of only 4 members. Despite this, VIA continues its active creative activity.

The creative path and music of the Yalla group

The musicians began their career by rehashing popular tracks by Soviet artists. Soon their repertoire included original compositions based on national Uzbek motifs.

The first tracks that were recorded at the Melodiya recording studio were Yallama Yorim and Kiz Bola. The sound of the presented compositions was dominated by the use of doira and rebab along with modern musical instruments. It was this assortment that attracted the genuine interest of the Soviet public in the work of Yalla.

In the mid-70s, the musicians actively toured throughout the Soviet Union. A few years later, at a Berlin recording studio, the musicians recorded a “juicy” longplay, which was called Amiga. It is noteworthy that the tracks included in the collection were recorded in German. This allowed Yalla to win over foreign audiences as well. Some compositions of the presented album took the first places in foreign charts. In the USSR, musicians released a record at the Melodiya company.

At the end of the 70s, Farrukh Zakirov, who at that time was already the leader of a vocal and instrumental ensemble, decided to try his hand as a composer. Then he did not yet understand what success awaits his team. Soon, the musicians performed Farrukh's author's composition "Three Wells" ("Uchkuduk"), which not only became a hit, but also the hallmark of "Yalla". This hit contributed to the fact that the guys became laureates of the "Song of the Year" contest.

A few years later, "Three Wells" became the title track of the eponymous record. The new collection, in addition to the already well-known hit, included seven previously unpublished compositions. The group made frequent appearances on shows and various television programs. The guys toured the vast Soviet Union. Note that their performances were also accompanied by a colorful theatrical show.

New album and further activities

In the early 80s, the group's second studio album was released. It was called "The Face of My Beloved". The collection includes the popular lyrical composition "The Last Poem". The second studio album was not without "zest". For example, the musicians worked hard to combine folklore motifs with jazz-rock melodies.

On the wave of popularity, the musicians released their third album. The disc was called "Musical teahouse". The pearl of the disc was the dance track "Rope Walkers". Since that time, not a single concert takes place without the performance of the presented composition.

In the 90s, the popularity of "Yalla" went far beyond the borders of the Soviet Union. Musicians visit many countries of the world. They perform not only on a specially equipped stage, but also in open areas.

A year later, the VIA soloists recorded another collection at the Melodiya recording studio. The new record received a very strange name "Falakning Fe'l-Af'oli". The collection was headed by tracks performed in Russian and Uzbek. Note that this is the last album recorded on vinyl. The collection was highly acclaimed by fans and music critics.

Since the mid-90s, musicians have switched to digital format. With the participation of foreign and Russian artists, they re-recorded the top songs of their repertoire. At the beginning of the so-called "zero" musicians toured a lot and gave charity concerts.

"Yalla" at the present time

Currently, the vocal and instrumental ensemble "Yalla" positions itself as a musical group. Unfortunately, the artists have ceased to delight fans with frequent appearances on stage. The head of the team for this period of time holds the post of Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan.

Despite the fact that the group's work is less often interested today, the musicians appear on TV screens from time to time. In 2018, they took part in the recording of a retro show.

In 2019, the band continued to perform with retro artists. Celebrities held a series of concerts on the territory of the Russian Federation. "Yalla" is happy to take orders that are associated with performances at corporate and other festive events.

In 2020, the legendary band celebrated its 50th anniversary. In honor of this event, a ceremony of awarding the winners of the online competition for the performance of compositions by the famous Yalla ensemble was held at the branch of Moscow State University.
