Apink is a South Korean girl group. They work in the style of K-Pop and Dance. It consists of 6 participants who were gathered to perform at a music competition. The audience liked the work of the girls so much that the producers decided to leave the team for regular activities.
During the ten-year period of the group's existence, they received more than 30 different awards. They successfully perform on the South Korean and Japanese stages, and are also recognizable in many other countries.
History of Apink
In February 2011, A Cube Entertainment announced the formation of a new girl group to perform on Mnet's upcoming music show M! Countdown". From this period, the preparation of the participants of the young group for a responsible performance began.
A collective called Apink appeared on the stage of the event in April 2011. The song chosen for the performance was "You Don't Know", which was later included on the band's first mini-album.
The composition of the Apink team
A Cube Entertainment, having announced their intention to create a new girl group, was in no hurry to announce the composition of the team. The fact is that the participants gathered gradually. Naeun was the first to qualify. The second in the group was Chorong, she quickly took the leadership position. The third member was Hayoung. Already in March, Eunji joined the band. Yookyung was next in line. Bomi and Namjoo only joined the group during the filming of the show.
The producers, gathering the participants, introduced them on their Twitter account. Each of the girls sang, played musical instruments. Also, each danced in a short video, which served as a kind of announcement. The team was originally called Apink News, consisted of 7 girls. In 2013, Yookyung left the group, leaving only 6 artists in it.
Music show performance
Before the start of the main part of the show, it was decided to launch a preparatory program. It told about the preparation of the participants for the passage of the main part of the event. The start was given on March 11, 2011. Each episode included a story about the girls and showcasing their talents. The role of hosts, as well as mentors and critics, was performed by various celebrities. A week before the official start of the show, the girls from Apink were recruited to shoot a commercial. It was a tea demonstration.
Debut album release
Already on April 19, 2011, Apink released their first album "Seven Springs of Apink". It was a mini disc. The album was a good success even due to the fact that the group was popular after participating in the show.
The leader of the band Beast starred in the first video for the song "Mollayo". The group presented this song at the show. It was with her that the team began its promotion. Soon the listeners appreciated "It Girl", then the group made a bet on this song. In September, Apink recorded the soundtrack for "Protect the Boss".
The second show and the band's album
In November, the girls from Apink already took part in the next show "The Birth of a Family". The girl-band members competed for 8 weeks with a similar team with a male composition. The format of the show was far from music. Participants took care of stray pets.
On November 22, Apink released their second mini-album Snow Pink. The hit of this disc was the single "My My". To promote the team made a bet on charity. The girls had a sale of personal belongings. They also organized an exit cafe, in which they themselves served visitors all day.
Getting the first awards
It was an achievement for Apink to receive the Best New Girl Group award. It happened on November 29 at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Such a quick recognition of the team says a lot. In December, the girls, along with Beast, were invited to shoot a promotional video. Under the song "Skinny Baby" they represented the school uniform of the Skoolooks brand.
In January 2012, Apink received 3 awards at once from different founders. These were the Korean Culture & Entertainment Awards, the High 1 Seoul Music Awards and the Golden Disk Awards. The first 2 events were held in Seoul, and the third in Osaka. In the same period, the team took part in the M Countdown show, won with the song "My My".
After that, the group received an award in the category "Rookie of the Year" at the Gaon Chart Awards. In March, Apink was invited to perform at the Canadian Music Fest. After that, the girls participated in the next seasons of the Apink News show. Girls not only performed their direct duties. The members tried their hand as screenwriters, cameramen, and other offscreen personnel.
Release of the first full-length studio album by Apink
In 2012, Apink began preparations for the release of their debut full-length studio album. The band released their first single in April, on the anniversary of their stage debut. In May, the girls have already released the album "Une Année".
In promotion, it was decided to perform in music programs every week. The bet was made on the song "Hush". In the middle of summer, the group had another single "Bubibu", which was chosen by the fans.
Collaboration with other performers, line-up changes
In January 2013, Apink participated in the AIA K-POP concert held in Hong Kong. The girls performed on stage together with other popular bands.
In April 2013, Yookyung left the group. The girl made a choice in favor of studying, which did not fit into the tight schedule of work in a musical group. Play M Entertainment decided not to recruit new members to the group, but to keep Apink as a 6-member group.
Further creative path toоcollective
In 2013, the group released their third mini-album "Secret Garden". The lead single "NoNoNo" became the brightest in the band's career. The song climbed to number 2 on the Billboard' K-Pop Hot 100. In the same year, the girls received the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Participated in the recording of the single together with the stars of the Korean scene.
The members of the group were elected honorary ambassadors of Seoul Character & Licensing Fair. In 2014, Apink released their most successful EP, Pink Blossom. Thanks to this work, the group collected awards from all the music awards in Korea.
In the fall, the team began working for the Japanese audience. In the same period, the girls released the hit "LUV", which stayed on the charts for a long time, received many awards. In honor of the fifth anniversary, the band released a full-length album "Pink Memory", and also went on a tour.
By the 10th anniversary of the group, they have 9 mini-albums and 3 full-length records, 5 concert tours in South Korea, 4 in Japan, 6 in Asia, 1 in America. A Pink has received 32 different music awards and has also been nominated for various awards 98 times. The group is known and loved all over the world.
