Bedros Kirkorov is a Bulgarian and Russian singer, actor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, father of the popular singer Philip Kirkorov. His concert activity began in his student years. Even today he is not averse to please his fans with singing, but due to his age he does it much less often.
Childhood and youth of Bedros Kirkorov
The artist's date of birth is June 2, 1932. He was born in Varna. The family subsequently settled in Bulgaria. Bedros has the most pleasant childhood memories.
The boy's father and mother did not have a specialized musical education. Despite this, music was often played in their house. Moreover, they were listed as soloists of the local choir. Soon Bedros himself became a full-fledged member of the team. In an interview, he said that he initially thought about a career as a dancer.
As a teenager, he trained as a fashion shoemaker. Parents were sure that Bedros would build a good career in this area. However, Kirkorov Sr. gravitated toward singing. He applied for admission to a music school.
He ended up at the Varna Opera House. Georgy Volkov became his vocal teacher. Bedros was preparing to perform the part of Alfred from La Traviata, but received a summons to the army.
The creative vein made itself felt during the service. There he performed with a military ensemble. Bedros even appeared at the World Festival of Youth and Students.
At one of the performances, the young singer was spotted by Aram Khachaturian himself. He advised Bedros not to lose his chance and urgently go to the capital of Russia. He heeded the advice of Aram and after the army went to Moscow.
By the patronage of Arno Babajanyan, the young man was enrolled immediately in the second year of GITIS. Some sources indicate that before Kirkorov Sr. moved to Moscow, he studied at the Yerevan Conservatory.

Already during his student years, he shone on stage. Bedros appeared on stage accompanied by popular orchestras and artists. The team of Leonid Utesov invited Kirkorov Sr. to perform a cycle of musical compositions about the Soviet-Bulgarian friendship. The most famous composition of the cycle is called "Alyosha".
Since this period of time, the Melodiya recording studio has been releasing collections with musical works by Kirkorov Sr. with enviable regularity. So, at this time, his discography is replenished with the records "Endlessness", "Song of a Soldier" and "My Grenada". The artist does not stop there.
